Free entrance tickets and price reductions on gifts and publications are on offer at selected maritime tourist attractions in Kent, East Sussex and France. The Maritime Heritage Trail – which promotes the heritage of the coastline of South East England and the Nord pas de Calais – has launched a visitor passport which will be handed out at the selected venues, entitling holders to two for one tickets and other discounts. The passports will be available at Upnor Castle, Ramsgate Maritime Museum and Chatham Historic Dockyard in Kent and at Hastings Castle, Hastings West Hill and East Hill Lifts and the Brighton Volks Train in East Sussex. In France, visitors can get them at the Musee Portuaire and on board La Bazenne in Dunkirk, at Nausicaa and Maison de la Beuriere in Boulogne sur mer, at Mareis in Etaples sur mer, at the Maison de la mer et du Sauvetage in Grand Fort Philippe, at the Lighthouses in Calais and Petit Fort Philippe and at the Berck-sur-mer Museum. The pass will be distributed between March and June 2007 and will be valid until December 2007. Holders can use them in any of the attractions either side of the Channel. “We are issuing 90,000 passports and it will be on a first come, first served basis,” said Catherine Perepelytsya, the Maritime Heritage Trail’s project officer. “We are delighted that such popular attractions have agreed to take part and are sure the passports will come in very useful for those visiting France this summer – and vice versa – as well as for local days out.” For more details on what there is to do and see along the Kent coast, visit www.maritimeheritagetrail.co.uk
