Kent has just been named Europe’s top pick for families who plan to go on holiday this summer.

Great food, great beaches and amazing walks

According to the Lonely Planet guidebook, the reopening of Dreamland amusement park together with the beautiful beaches and walks around the White Cliffs of Dover have resulted in the Kent area becoming increasingly popular throughout the last couple of years.

The guidebook also states Kent’s undeniable way of re-inventing nostalgia through the opening of the Turner Contemporary in 2011, a revamped wooden roller coaster a Big Wheel and a 1920′s helter-skelter and carousel.

Sinead Hanna, PR manager for Visit Kent says that ‘years of hard work and investments in the area are finally starting to bear fruit.’

Especially for families with kids the areas around Kent are beautiful, nostalgic and most of all perhaps affordable.

Further down the list we find places like County Kerry in Ireland (#2), the Black Forest in Germany (#3) and Skomer Island and Marloes Sands, Wales, UK (#9).
